Hartwell House
Hartwell House, at just 64 kilometres northwest of London, is a picture-book country house set within 37 hectares of magnificent landscape. Whereas the building dates to the 17th century, the history of the property stretches back to the time of Edward the Confessor, almost a millennium ago.Behind the Jacobean façade, the house has fine Georgian interiors, rococo marble chimney pieces and a grand hall in the baroque style.
Yet, despite bearing the traces of various periods, it retains an elegant integrity. The opulent rooms, with high ceilings and antique furniture, evoke quintessential English charm.
